Hawai’i has a HUGE TV & film production industry.
While the show was mostly shot on a soundstage, this little island is where they shot “real” scenes of the “unchartered desert isle” for “Gilligan’s Island.” It’s now used as a marine biology facility for the University of Hawai’i.
I also flew over the jungle & beach locations for several other TV shows & movies, including “Lost”, “Jurassic Park”, and the “Robin Masters Estate” where Tom Selleck’s character lived on “Magnum P.I.”
While on another tour, we drove past the soundstages where all of the interior shooting is done for “Hawaii Five-O.”
